Two weeks ago a buddy of mine named TJ couldn't believe that I had not only never seen, but had never even heard of The Inbetweeners, a British comedy about four teenaged boys bumbling through their inescapable hormones. He went on and on about how it's been twice nominated for a BAFTA and even won the Audience Award for Best Situation Comedy and how I was such a [insert British slang here] for not having seen it.
I then proceeded to watch all three seasons of the show out of the defiant hope that I could call him a [insert British slang here] for liking such a bad show. But I'd never have that shot, as The Inbetweeners is actually a damned funny and even endearing comedy that wrly encapsulates those chaotic, hormone-fueled teenage years where everything with the opposite sex seems possible but, really, nothing ever is because all teenage boys are awkward twats. (The pilot was directed by James Bobin, director of Flight of the Conchords, Da Ali G Show and the upcoming The Muppets) Think of it like a British American Pie, only without the dopey characters and with twice the raunchy material, yet, oddly enough, without the nudity.
Well, the TV show version of The Inbetweeners may have come to its natural conclusion after 18 episodes, but fan demand across the pond to see the further pathetic adventures of Will, Simon, Jay and Neil as they all attempt to have sex has been so strong that The Inbetweeners Movie was born. And now it's got a full trailer [via Den of Geek].
Here's the thing, though. This trailer actually doesn't capture the crude charm of the show. Hopefully that's just a matter of it being a poor trailer and not a poor movie, so I've embedded the first episode of the show right below it to give you a better feel for the show. Be warned, both have plenty of NSFW language.
