The Fright Night remake came and went and no one was really passionate about it one way or another. Except me, it seemed. I really dug it and appreciated a remake that had a bit more thought put into it than most people gave it credit for. So, if anyone were to be excited for a sequel to the remake, surely it'd be a huge defender like me, right? Well, not so fast.
A sequel could be a lot of fun, assuming it at least brought back screenwriter Marti Noxon. Considering Noxon is now working on a movie over at Pixar, however, that's not exactly likely. Also unlikely to return are stars Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell. Or director Craig Gillespie. Or even the Las Vegas setting.
Shock Til You Drop has learned that a sequel is moving forward, only without any of the above talent returning. They don't know a whole lot right now, but they do know that Eduardo Rodriguez (Stash House) is going to direct, and that the production will take place in Romania. So, yeah, it's starting to sound an awful lot like that unrelated Wolfman spin-off Werewolf: The Beast Among Us, which is a mindless, forgettable monster mash. It could turn out fine -- White Noise 2: The Light is one of the best unrelated sequels around -- but we'll hold any optimism until we know a little more.
But how about you? Are you at all intrigued by a sequel to 2011's Fright Night?
