Remakes continue to lose their negative reputation, as two highly anticipated examples coming out in the next year just released some great-looking first impressions. See these hot new images from The Magnificent Seven and Power Rangers below.

The Magnificent Seven

Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke have been reunited thanks to their Training Day director, Antoine Fuqua, for a remake of the 1960 Western The Magnificent Seven, which itself was a reinvention of the 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai. Rounding out their septet below, via USA Today, are co-stars Chris Pratt, Byung-han Lee, Vincent D'Onofrio, Martin Sensmeir and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. No sign yet of the villain, played by Peter Sarsgaard, but we've got plenty of time. The movie opens on September 23.

Power Rangers

A good way to get more people interested in a redo of the 1990s TV sensation Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (which had its own theatrical feature spinoff) is to have a popular and talented actor play the villain. That's what Power Rangers is clearly doing by casting Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa. She seems capable of doing anything these days and now she can add one more thing. "I've never played a villain before," she tells People magazine. "It's definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita."

See Banks's evil but enchanting and very green version of the villain below, via People. The movie opens on March 24, 2017.
