Perhaps the third time will be the charm? After
James Cameron and
Paul Greengrass passed on directing
Cleopatra starring
Angelina Jolie, Sony has
taken the project to another high-profile director;
David Fincher. Fincher, who is coming off being nominated for
The Social Network, is currently finishing up the American remake of the Swedish adaptation of Steig Larsson’s first of three novels,
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. On top of all that, Fincher is also attached to remake
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney. While Fincher and Scott Rudin have a “very, very good” working relationship, might this offer be moot? Several other directors have been throwing their names into consideration for what is expected to be a very expensive picture. Should Fincher work this movie into his busy schedule or should some other director take the lead?
