It's been a bit of a bumpy, twisty-turny road on the way to a Fifty Shades of Grey movie, but it feels like the kind of movie that needs some curves in order to set it apart. You can't say fans of the steamy novel it's based on haven't enjoyed the project's ups and downs and multiple leading dudes. Today brings even more news for them to munch on and it comes in the form of a replacement for Christian Grey, formerly held by Charlie Hunnam. That person is Once Upon a Time actor Jamie Dornan.
Maybe you know him, maybe he looks familiar -- maybe he looks like a lot of young, hot up-and-comers -- but regardless of what or who he does or doesn't look like, this is now our guy. This is our new Christian Grey. Start your anticipatin'!
Dornan has a nice look for Grey. Tall, handsome, intriguing -- the darker hair will probably ease previous fan concerns. He's got the whole former underwear model thing going for him, so we know he looks good without clothes on, which, lets be honest, is something you need to know.
Apart from the ABC series, Dornan has also appeared in the BBC show The Fall (and he's Irish, by the way), and Marie Antoinette. He's tasked with portraying a dude with "smoldering grey eyes;" a successful businessman with a taste for the freaky. Dakota Johnson will play the younger girl he seduces, and if successful this could mark the start of a sexy little franchise for adults. Or it may reinvigorate your sex life. Either way, it's comin' our way and we'll be ready for it. (Too much? Nah.)
As of now the delays have not impacted the planned release date. Fifty Shades of Grey will arrive in theaters on August 1, 2014.
