Movie News: Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen to Star in More 'X-Men' Movies; 'Fifty Shades' Goes IMAX

Feb 10, 2015

X-Men: Apocalypse: Patrick Stewart says Ian McKellen is "certainly" going to appear in X-Men: Apocalypse as Magneto, although his own character (Professor Xavier) will not. However, Stewart also says he's had discussions about a "very different" sort of Wolverine movie in which he would team up with Hugh Jackman. Meanwhile, director Bryan Singer teased a new photo, stating: "I know. Old door. But there'll be something new behind it." [Oregon Live/Instagram]

Fifty Shades of Grey: Sexy romantic drama Fifty Shades of Grey will be available in a giant-sized version when it opens this Friday, February 13. The highly anticipated movie will steam up IMAX theaters at 75 locations; CEO Greg Foster says the desire is to expand "beyond tentpole franchises." Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan star. Halloween: Horror franchise Halloween will be "recalibrated" by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, who wrote the final four installments of the Saw series, among other horror titles. According to the report, the new movie is "not a remake, not a reboot, and not a reimagining." So it doesn't appear the series will pick up where Rob Zombie left off in 2009 (above). No director is currently attached to the project. [Heat Vision]

Urge: Pierce Brosnan looks quite frantic in the first official photo from Urge. The thriller imagines what might happen if a small group of friends tried out a new experimental drug that causes its users to lose all inhibitions. The movie is aiming for release later this year. [Collider]

These Final Hours Trailer: In a new trailer for These Final Hours, a young man decides to spend his last day on Earth at a gigantic party. Along the way, however, he saves a little girl, and his perspective changes entirely. The apocalyptic drama heads to theaters on March 6.  [MovieClips]
