The Constant Gardener and ?City of God? director Fernando Meirelles — who just completed his international whirlwind relationship drama 360 — has made us all kinds of tingly this morning. The Brazilian filmmaker recently took to Twitter, teasing casting picks for his upcoming adaptation of Peter Evans' best selling book Nemesis: The True Story of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought Down the Kennedys. The story doesn't have many kind things to say about Greek shipping magnate Onassis. In fact, Evans claims that after tense dealings with Bobby Kennedy — who launched an investigation into Onassis' business practices and barred the entrepreneur from trading in the U.S. — Onassis had the young politician assassinated in 1968. Who does Meirelles possibly want to play the bold Kennedy? None other than Michael Fassbender.
reports that Meirelles will be moving forward with Nemesis
, and recently peeped on Twitter: "Going to London on Sunday to begin NEMESIS" and "Making cast of Nemesis. How about [Michael] Fassbender [for] Bobby Kennedy." Holy yes please! The Playlist reminds us that Fassy will be busy shooting Ridley Scott's The Counselor
and frequent collaborator Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave
before he can step into the former Senator's shoes. This could all very well be a giant tease, but it's one that's intriguing nonetheless. Can you the Irish-German actor playing RFK? Let us know if you have a better casting idea below.
