I, Frankenstein

I, Frankenstein: The more we see of the upcoming I, Frankenstein, the more we think -- and hope -- it will be some kind of cracked lunacy, only loosely related to any version of the classic horror tale that we've seen before. That's reinforced by a new image of a demon named Dekar, who looks like he's stumbled in from another world entirely. The movie is due out on January 24, 2014. [Coming Soon]

Fantastic Four: With a script polish underway from X-Men: Days of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg, the casting process is moving forward. While the long-rumored selection of Michael B. Jordan (Chronicle, Fruitvale Station) as the Human Torch has still not been confirmed, Kit Harrington, Miles Teller and Jack O'Connell are rumored to be in contention to play super-brain Reed Richards; Saoirse Ronan and Kate Mara are supposedly testing for the role of Sue "Invisible Girl" Storm. [Variety]

The Stuff of Legend: As a writing team, Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan have established a reputation as horror specialists, counting the three Feast films, four installments of the Saw franchise, and two Collector movies among their credits. Now they've been hired to script The Stuff of Legend for Disney, a family-friendly, live-action property based on the first in a series of masterful, quite gorgeous and intelligent graphic novels about "a band of toys that journeys into a dark realm to rescue their owner from the infamous Boogeyman." It reads even better than it sounds, so we hope the screenwriters can do it justice. [Heat Vision]

American Hustle Trailer: While the first trailer for David O. Russell's American Hustle set it up as an exceptionally stylish movie, the new trailer shifts focus to the characters played by five exceptional actors: Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Jennifer Lawrence. And then the style kicks back in. The movie opens on December 13. [Yahoo!]
