Watch Over 7 Minutes of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' and 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Amazing Spider-Man 2

While last night’s football game was a bit of a snoozer (congrats to the Seahawks and their fans for a dominating performance), and most of the commercials were an unmitigated disaster (what’s more American than America? Really, Bob Dylan?), but at least there were a few good movie ads. Transformers: Age of Extinction, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 all made appearances during the big game.

In the case of the latter two, the ads on display were essentially teasers for the significantly longer trailers you could find online. So if you missed them last night in all the hoopla of your Super Bowl party, we’ve got both extended clips for your perusal today – because as everyone knows, watching extended trailers on the office’s dime is the best way to spend the Monday morning after the game. Why is this not a national holiday?

First up is this nearly four-minute long extended clip for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are back – and this time, Spidey’s squaring off against Jamie Foxx’s Electro.

As is to be expected, the new extended clip is full of CGI, but is also packed with action. We see how Jamie Foxx becomes Electro, shadowy OsCorp figures doing dubious things behind the scenes, and Peter trying to pull the wool over Aunt May’s eyes in order to keep his alter ego hidden.

I’m still not sure I’m on board with the reimagining of Electro (sorry, I like the old green suit with the crazy lightning bolt attachments), but I’m definitely willing to give it a shot. Bask in the glory of this extended clip below.

For my money, the best trailer of the entire evening was the one for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Sure, Transformers had Optimus Prime riding a Dinobot, but Michael Bay’s already proven to me that he can screw up Transformers three times now. So, Cap wins because that trailer actually made me excited without the nagging voice in the back of my head asking me “so, how will this movie go wrong?”

The extended clip gives us even more action – with The Winter Soldier getting a lot of screentime in order to show us all that he’s a worthy foe for Cap and S.H.I.E.L.D. to contend with. It’s hard to believe this movie is coming out real soon (April 4) – but after watching this trailer, I’m more eager than I’ve ever been in my life for the arrival of April.

Have a look at the clip below and see if you agree.
