Maybe Might Possibly: Potential Casts for 'Expendables 2,' 'Romancing the Stone' Remake, Tom Cruise's 'Horizons' and More

Now that cast wishlists and the like have become a popular form of news, we wanted to create one place that houses all that stuff. Maybe Might Possibly is a new feature here at where we'll collect all the potential casting reports floating around online and put them in one safe place.

-- As The Expendables 2 gears up for production with what appears to be a fairly massive cast, Moviehole reports that other names circling Nu Image's wishlist include the previously reported Chuck Norris, John Travolta and Donnie Yen, as well as Nicolas Cage, Taylor Lautner, Christopher Lambert and Christian Slater. Simon West will direct this time, replacing Sylvester Stallone. No offers have gone out yet to any of these actors.

-- Remaining on a roll as far as wishlists go, Moviehole also reports that Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl might reunite for a Romancing the Stone remake. Taylor Kitsch's name is also being thrown around for the film, which originally hit in 1984 and starred Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. The film follows a romance novelist (Turner) who sets off on a jungle adventure in Columbia with a rough-and-tough loose cannon (Douglas) in search of her kidnapped sister.

--  The title has switched from Oblivion to Horizons, but Tom Cruise is still starring and the film is now looking for its female lead. Variety reports that Jessica Chastain, Olivia Wilde, Brit Marling, Noomi Rapace and Olga Kurylenko are all testing for that part this weekend. In the sci-fi flick, Cruise stars as Jack, "a man who lives in the clouds above Earth and heads to its surface to repair drones that essentially keep the planet safe from an alien race that has all but wiped out humanity." Tron: Legacy director Joe Kosinski will be behind the camera, and the film is set for a July 19, 2013 release.

-- During a Q&A for Drive, director Nicolas Winding Refn revealed that Ryan Gosling might be starring in Terrence Malick's next film after he wraps up Refn's next, Only God Forgives. No word on which Malick film that is, though it was recently revealed that Christian Bale was also eying a new Malick film, so this may be the same one. Whether this will hinder Gosling's plans to also star for Refn in the Logan's Run remake is not known at this time. [Film School Rejects]
