Movie News: Christoph Waltz in 'Muppets 2,' Harrison Ford's Next Thriller, A Look at Sam Raimi's Wicked Witch

Evil Dead: The first trailer for the new version of Evil Dead certainly sparked plenty of conversation -- will the film be respectful to 1981’s The Evil Dead or simply a rip-off? -- and a newly released image of the Book of the Dead should keep the conversation going. The book (aka the Necronomicon) plays a key role in the story, though the new one is different from the book in Sam Raimi’s original version. Frankly, it still looks pretty creepy; the movie is due out on April 12, 2013. [Facebook via Collider]

The Muppets Sequel: Academy Award-winning actor Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) is in negotiations to star in the sequel to 2011’s The Muppets. Yes, that’s right: the man who played a very nasty Nazi for Quentin Tarantino (and portrays a bounty hunty in Tarantino’s upcoming Django Unchained) may jump into a lead role in a beloved family film franchise. Waltz would play an Interpol inspector in the sequel, which is set in Europe, though we’re not sure if Waltz would be a hero or a villain. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Harrison Ford and Zac Ephron: While we’ve been happily debating the future of Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford has been in negotiations to team with Zac Efron in a thriller for director Rob Reiner. You Belong to Me follows a psychiatrist (Ford) who becomes chummy with the brother (Efron) of a patient who has committed suicide; the younger man then proceeds to seduce the psychiatrist’s wife and daughter. We imagine that Ford will not take that kind of treatment lying down. [The Wrap]

Oz the Great and Powerful: Sam Raimi cowrote and serves as a producer on the new Evil Dead, but his directing talents have been focused fully on Oz the Great and Powerful for Disney, which will fly into theaters on March 8. In the prequel, the future Wizard of Oz (James Franco) encounters three witches (Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz), though we don’t yet know which one will become the Wicked Witch of the West. New artwork suggests the witch has a very menacing profile. [Yahoo! Movies]
