Before Catherine Hardwicke sold her soul to Twilight and directed her chapter in the fairy tale trend with Red Riding Hood, she was working with a teenage Nikki Reed on the script for Thirteen. The film starred a thirteen-year-old Evan Rachel Wood as a thirteen-year-old in L.A. discovering drugs and sex for the first time, testing boundaries with her mom, and exploring her new world with troubled friend Evie (Reed). According to THR, Hardwicke may once again be directing Wood in the grown-up version of that story with the erotic thriller Plush.
The story — written by Hardwicke and Artie Nelson — would find Wood back in L.A., centering on the music world. Collider shared an interview clip with the director where she briefly described the project: "I think I’m doing another cool movie with Evan [Rachel Wood] next, a really wild erotic thriller. Super sexy … It’s about a character that’s really pushing the edge, really pushing the envelope. That’s Evan’s character."
We recently saw Wood on True Blood as the sexy, bratty vampire queen Sophie-Anne, and she was in last year's political thriller Ides of March with George Clooney and Ryan Gosling. Her recent on-again, off-again relationship with Marilyn Manson also found her in the spotlight. Wood's more than capable of "pushing the envelope," and the project may prove beneficial for Hardwicke's reputation after the critically disastrous Red Riding Hood. Are you looking forward to more?
