Observations about life, love, longing, and one of the most beautiful romantic stories brought to screen, Richard Linklater's Before Sunrise
joined Ethan Hawke
and Julie Delpy
together for one memorable night in Vienna. The sequel, Before Sunset
, reunites the couple nine years later when their paths intersect again — this time in Paris. They're older, wiser, and a bit jaded — and we were wrapped up in their world all over again. Now, Vulture's
reporting that a third film in the Linklater series may be on its way.
Hawke recently spoke to AlloCine and revealed that the trio are ready to make a new film. "I don't know what we're going to do but I know the three of us have been talking a lot in the last six months. All three of us have been having similar feelings that we're ready to revisit those characters," he told the French magazine. "There's nine years between the first two movies and, if we made the film next summer, it would be nine years again so we've really started thinking that would be a good thing to do. We're going to try write it this year."
Hawke and Delpy shared writing credit with Linklater on the second movie — they were uncredited writers on the first film as well — so their involvement in this project has always been closer to the heart. It'd be great to see these characters together again, sticking it out for the long haul. Will it finally happen?
