Eclipse Gets Boos at Wondercon, Favreau Twitters Casting News, and a Couple of Schmucks

  • Schm-yucky Erstwhile straight guy Paul Rudd is in so many of these buddy-coms, the question really only is which side of the poster he’ll be on. Said poster and trailer for his latest, Dinner for Schmucks with Steve Carell as the fall guy, premiered over on Apple, if you’re at all interested in seeing Carell in big false teeth doing a nosedive into just about everything as Rudd rolls his eyes.
  • Wonderful-con The San Francisco comic and movie convention Wondercon showed why it’s cool by featuring awesome new trailers for Resident Evil: Afterlife, Inception, The Losers, and more, plus discussions with the casts of those movies, Kick-Ass and charmer Jake Gyllenhaal for Prince of Persia. Biggest surprise? The Sorcerer's Apprentice actually looks pretty good. Oh yeah, and best of all, the crowd totally booed that Twilight movie.
  • Cowboy Up “Please stop asking if Harrison Ford is in Cowboys & Aliens. Okay? He is. Please don't tell anybody." That’s Jon Favreau’s official twitter, apparently confirming rumors that the actor will take a role in the graphic novel adaptation. Hope Ford is following him.
  • Locked Up for Good? Actor David Cross, who played Tobias Fünke on Fox's brilliant Arrested Development, says he thinks the long-discussed movie is DOA because too many people involved have gotten older and are doing their own things now. Considering that final holdout Michael Cera agreed to join the cast more than a year ago and still nothing’s happened, sadly Cross is probably right. Sigh.
  • And Then There Were Two Now that Sebastian Stan from Gossip Girl (!) will play Steve Rogers's sidekick Bucky Barnes, next up is casting Peggy Carter, Captain America’s WWII-era squeeze, in The First Avenger: Captain America. Since Keira Knightley is out of the project and Emily Blunt passed, two actresses you've never heard of are up for it: Hayley Atwell and frontrunner Alice Eve (the blonde in She's Out of My League).
