Early Buzz: Find Out What Critics Are Saying About Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah'

Mar 21, 2014

Darren Aronofsky’s Noah will sail into theaters on March 28. Early reviews for the biblical epic — starring Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Douglas Booth, Logan Lerman and Ray Winstone — are pouring in. Will the critical deluge keep audiences away? It seems to be a mixed bag so far, with some calling the spectacle “frustratingly ponderous,” “ill conceived,” and “heavy-handed,” but still dishing out praise for Aronofsky’s “arresting piece of filmmaking” and “sometimes dazzling” work.

We’ll let you judge for yourself, but for now, go behind the scenes of the movie with this 11-minute B-roll footage. The clip offers a look at the impressive construction of the massive ark. Clearly, Aronofsky pulled out all the stops for this movie. We also get to witness a tense standoff between Crowe’s Noah and Winstone as the biblical icon’s nemesis Tubal-cain. Additionally, there's a brief glimpse at frequent collaborator Connelly being directed in scene.

If you’re dying to see Aronofsky in action, here’s a fine peek at his process.
