You may or may not remember this (check that tiny part of your brain reserved for getting excited about upcoming 50 Cent movie projects), but not long ago rapper-turned-actor Curtis "50 Cent" Johnson filmed a movie called Things Fall Apart
in which the lead role -- a cancer-stricken football player in his senior year -- called for 50 Cent
to drop a dramatic amount of weight.
Well now some version of the film's trailer has arrived online, and let me tell you this thing looks like a joke. Seriously, a joke. As if someone wanted to mock an After School Special to the point of parody, SNL-style, except this isn't a parody, this is actually the trailer for the film.
Look, I like 50 Cent. He usually finds a way of playing a believable drug dealer in films, and there's something to be said about that kind of authenticity, but cancer-stricken football player ... mmm, not so much. They're touting this as the most "critically acclaimed role" of 50 Cent's career, which we find slightly amusing because who knew he had an actual career?
Things Fall Apart supposedly hits theaters sometime this year. At least it looks like they found the perfect title for it.
