Once The Lion King 3D topped the box office charts, it was inevitable that Disney would reach back into their library and start converting more of their classic films to 3D. As such, they've just announced release dates for four more films that will hit theaters once again, but this time you'll be able to watch them in 3D. Oh goody!
Those films and release dates are ...
Beauty and the Beast -- January 13, 2012
Finding Nemo - September 14, 2012
Monsters, Inc - January 18, 2013
The Little Mermaid - September 13, 2013
Obviously you see the pattern going on here. If this roll-out is successful, we're pretty much guaranteed two Disney/Pixar 3D re-releases each year in January and September -- both of which are absolutely perfect times to go back into theaters with an old classic, considering mid-September is usually heavy with awards contenders and leftover summer junk, while mid-January is busy getting its Sundance on and all that snow gives parents a perfect reason to head to theaters with the kids.
No word on which films could come after these, though if it's a success we imagine they'll stick to the one Pixar film and one Disney classic for as long as they can. Where you at Aladdin? Which Disney/Pixar films would you like to see re-released in 3D.
