Did You Know: Lionsgate Has Their Own Online Fitness Channel That Includes a 'Dirty Dancing' Workout?
From the folks that brought us The Cabin in the Woods and The Hunger Games comes … a YouTube fitness channel? Studio Lionsgate's BeFit program is a free, 90-day workout system available only on YouTube, tucked neatly between the existential French cat videos and endless amateur performances of "Call Me Maybe." You can train with the videos at your own pace by using the playlist for all 90 days. Next up: Lionsgate programs a DVR and uses Skype.
Certified fitness trainer Samantha Clayton, an Olympic track star from the UK, hosts the program. The studio is also expanding their content to include hip hop dance workouts led by choreographers Bryan Tanaka, Dejan Tubic, and Janelle Ginestra, and other videos from health nuts like Jane Fonda and Denise Austin. Home Media Magazine reports that BeFit generated more than 1.5 million views in April — most likely from nerds like us who spotted the Dirty Dancing video and are secretly hoping Lionsgate adds workout versions of their entire film library ASAP. The studio will be remaking the coming of age dance tale for 2013 with Zac Efron possibly in the role of Johnny, originally played by the late Patrick Swayze. We're thinking The Hunger Games is ripe for a sweaty funtime fitness reboot, given the name alone.
Tune into BeFit for more info.
