Don't expect to see Dame Helen Mirren's name next to the highest all-time scores in Gears of War or anything like that, but the Oscar-winning actress does now hold a Guinness World Record that's actually related to gaming. According to the new Guinness World Records 2012 Gamer's Edition (did you even know Guinness made a gamer's edition?), Mirren holds the record for the greatest fee ever paid to someone to appear in a video game advertisement.
You may remember how back in 2010 Mirren became the spokeswoman for Wii Fit in Australia and the UK, filming a few ads over the course of two days. Well Mirren was paid roughly 500,000 pounds (or $800,000) to appear in the ads, and that's apparently the highest amount ever paid to someone for an appearance. Not the most exhilarating story, we know -- and we're sure someone will surpass that amount in the near future as more and more celebrities begin appearing in video game ads -- but we just thought it was amusing that, of all people, the 67-year-old Dame Helen Mirren holds this record in a gaming world dominated by youngsters. We say good for her!
