Bradley Cooper to Be a 'Chef' in Former David Fincher Project

Bradley CooperFire up the oven, because it looks like Chef is starting to simmer.

Way back in 2008, word circulated around Tinseltown that David Fincher would team up with Keanu Reeves to create a film entitled Chef. The film was set to be a tale of redemption where a two-star Michelin chef (Reeves) loses everything thanks to his drug habit and then assembles a crack team of culinary assassins to relaunch his career and acquire a coveted third star.

For whatever reason, the project eventually fizzled out – until this week. The Playlist realized there’s movement happening currently and that Fincher and Reeves have been replaced by Blue Valentine’s Derek Cianfrance and actor Bradley Cooper. Sounds interesting – although it might be even more exciting if we could mix and match those who’ve been attached. We’d kinda like to see a Fincher/Cooper version, personally.

Should this attempt manage to get off the ground, it will mark a reuniting of Cianfrance and Cooper, who have previously worked together on the upcoming The Place Beyond the Pines.

We’ll have to wait and see if this recipe leads to box office success or a kitchen nightmare, but buzz from people who’ve read the original script (written by Eastern Promises screenwriter Steven Knight) says this could be a really amazing feature.

We’ll be sure to bring you more on Chef as things are locked in.
