Ladies, start your engines: we finally have official casting information for the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie! As previously rumored, Dakota Johnson has nabbed the coveted role of Anastasia Steele in the adaptation of a novel that's captured the lustful imaginations of millions worldwide, and Pacific Rim's Charlie Hunnam will play Christian Grey. Author E.L. James just confirmed the latter's casting via Twitter:
For those not familiar with Johnson, she played an adorable young single mother in the unfortunately short-lived TV sitcom Ben and Kate, among other credits (The Social Network, 21 Jump Street). She's also the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, which couldn't hurt. Meanwhile, Hunnam is most known to big-screen audiences as the star of this summer's Pacific Rim, but is already well-known to those who follow the TV show Sons of Anarchy.
Fifty Shades of Grey follows the trials and tribulations of a 27-year-old billionaire and his unique sexual relationship with a female college student. The film is currently set to woo theaters on August 1, 2014.
