Cult Cinema Icons Unite in the First Trailer for 'Sushi Girl'

Jul 28, 2011

Poster Art for Sushi GirlIf the trailer for the new indie action flick Sushi Girl is to be believed, then sushi, like revenge, is a dish best served cold.

Boasting a veritable who’s who of cult cinema icons (Mark Hamill, Jeff Fahey, Michael Biehn, Danny Trejo, Tony Todd, and Sonny Chiba for starters), this low-budget labor of love just burst onto our radar thanks to a new trailer (which you can peep below).

The clip features lots of tough guy dialogue and action, but it’s hard to get a real feel for what’s going on with the narrative. For that, we offer you the official synopsis:

“Fish has spent six years in jail. Six years alone. Six years keeping his mouth shut about the robbery, about the other men involved. The night he is released, the four men he protected with silence celebrate his freedom with a congratulatory dinner. The meal is a lavish array of sushi, served off the naked body of a beautiful young woman. The sushi girl seems catatonic, trained to ignore everything in the room, even if things become dangerous. Sure enough, the four unwieldy thieves can't help but open old wounds in an attempt to find their missing loot.”

Ah, bad men, missing money, hard feelings, and a naked girl covered in raw fish. Sign us up, now. No word yet on when Sushi Girl might make it to a DVD player near you, but we’ll let you know as soon as directors Kern Saxton and Destin Pfaff reveal those details. Until then, enjoy the trailer and be sure to swing by the official site for the film.
