The Cranberries' 'Zombie' Gets an Undead Cover

Jul 14, 2011

Bay Area pop-rocker Lizzie Pyxx has a thing for zombies and that song by The Cranberries that induces a stabby feeling when Dolores O'Riordan starts wailing, "Zombieeeee!" like a pregnant cat. The singer created a video parodying the 1994 protest song about Northern Ireland with a literal flesh-munching interpretation of the lyrics, trading "In your head," for lines like "Strike their head," and "Bash in their head." Charming! Several bands have parodied or covered the song before – it was one of the better known tracks from the 90s – but it seems odd that none have taken the obvious undead route (am I missing someone?). Pyxx used clips from Night of the Living Dead, Vengeance of the Zombies, and Oasis of the Zombies – along with images of herself being chased by the walking dead – to help illustrate her video for Zombie (The Undead), which you can check out below.
