Comic-Con Trailers and Clips: 'Riddick,' 'Kick-Ass 2,' 'Ender's Game, 'Metallica: Through the Never'

Jul 19, 2013

Straight from San Diego (or publicists e-mailing from the city), the Comic-Con footage is rolling in nicely. Who needs to be there in person to catch Harrison Ford in the flesh when you can sit at home and check out the latest clip of him from Ender's Game? In addition to that, we've got our hands on two new NSFW red-band trailers, one for Riddick and one for Kick-Ass 2. If it's blood and swears that will draw you to these movies, the spots below should suffice.

Riddick

I'm going to put it out there: this could very well be this year's Dredd. Actually, it'll probably do a lot better at the box office, but the hard tone and gory kills make it seem to be the best R-rated B movie since last summer's underrated comic book movie. The following red-band trailer begins with an extended sequence of the classic horror variety, with a bunch of people stuck in some single space surrounded by monsters just outside the walls. Then we get a nice face slicing and we're into some less-appealing CGI stuff. But it sure is nice to see Riddick (Vin Diesel) back to the edgier, scarier roots of Pitch Black

Kick-Ass 2

Another red-band trailer that gives us the extra-tantalizing bloodshed. This four-and-a-half-minute spot is an extended version of the one we've already seen, and it tosses in some of NSFW language along with Hit-Girl dismembering a hand and stabbing a villain in the eye. Speaking of villains, we get an introduction to a number of the bad guys who join up with Christopher Mintz-Plasse's now-lead supervillain the Mother F**er (you can't even say that in a green-band spot) along with a different opening scene with Hit-Girl and Kick-Ass. Interestingly enough, perhaps becuase of his disownership of the movie, there's a bit less focus on Jim Carrey's Colonel Stars and Stripes, though he is in there.

Ender's Game

The following is the first official clip from the upcoming science fiction adaptation, and it stars Harrison Ford's close-up face speaking straight out to the audience. Presumably he's actually addressing Ender and his fellow cadets, but for its design it works really well as a piece of marketing given that it seems directed at us. Ford's Colonel Graff is telling of a battle with the buggers and the heroism of Mazer Rackham. Aside from the many shots of Ford, there's some good looks at the movie's action.

UPDATE:

A new trailer for Metallica: Through the Never has just arrived online. Watch it below.
