Mel Gibson continued making movies after he was caught spitting out an anti-semetic tirade, but unfortunately CNN's Rick Sanchez wasn't as fortunate. Sanchez, who hosted a daily two-hour news program on CNN in which he'd bombard you with Twitter questions, was fired
from the network late last week after he publicly bashed the top brass of his own company on a satellite radio show ... because that's apparently what you do when auditioning for World's Biggest Idiot.
Not only did Sanchez bash Jon Stewart calling him a "bigot" for repeatedly taking jabs at Sanchez on 'The Daily Show', but the anchor also sarcastically mentioned how CNN only gives "high-profile white guys" the "anchor" position after a senior CNN employee told Sanchez that they see him more as a reporter than an anchor, like "John Quinones -- you know, the guy on ABC," Sanchez paraphrased.
Then, speaking about how Jews (like Jon Stewart) feel they're an opressed minority, Sanchez noted, "[Stewart's] such a minority, I mean, you know. . . . Please, what are you kidding? . . . I'm telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart, and to imply that somehow they -- the people in this country who are Jewish -- are an oppressed minority? Yeah."
While it was clear that Sanchez was being sarcastic on the show, apparently CNN didn't like the jokes. The network issued the following statement: "Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well." We wish Rick well too ... just don't expect us to invite him over for Chanukah this year.
