The Matrix trilogy creators Andy and Lana Wachowski have teamed up with Tom Tykwer for their latest project, the mind-bending Cloud Atlas – a film based on a 2004 novel by David Mitchell – and now EW has unveiled two new stills from the project.
The hard-to-describe story involves multiple characters – including a man (Tom Hanks) who meets a woman (Halle Berry) from an advanced culture, and a composer (Jim Broadbent) and his student (Ben Whishaw) -- and takes place over a thousand-year period…with actors playing more than one character. You may need to bring a notepad to keep all this straight.
While it’s hard to imagine Cloud Atlas doing huge box-office business, we’re still pretty interested in checking out what the Wachowskis and Tykwer have come up with. Early buzz is the film is one of the more ambitious we'll see this year, which definitely has us excited to see how, exactly, they managed to adapt this monster book comprised of six interlocking short stories. The film is slated for an October 26 release, but in the meantime check out these two new pics from the film. EW promises more are on the way later today.
