Cine Latino covers, well, all things relating to Latino culture and the movies, every Friday.

Set to hit theaters next week, Blackthorn (Oct. 7) stars Academy Award nominee Sam Shepard and Spanish actor Eduardo Noriega. In case Noriega’s name doesn’t ring a bell he played the Spanish police officer assigned to protect the local mayor in Vantage Point. He’s best known for his work in Europe, especially for his starring role in Novo, a French film directed by Jean-Pierre Limosin, where he takes it all off. He also co-starred with Viggo Mortensen in Alatriste, the most expensive film in the history of Spain. This will be Noriega’s fourth film with director Mateo Gil (Vanilla Sky).

Blackthorn premise: Shepard plays Butch Cassidy, a man with a few years left in him after surviving the standoff with the Bolivian Army in 1908. For the past 20 years he’s been in hiding under the name James Blackthorn. Ready to leave Bolivia he sets on a quest to return to the U.S. but when fate places a young robber (Noriega) in his path Cassidy decides to set out on one final adventure.

Brazilian star Camilla Belle and Mexican hottie Diego Boneta might be sharing the big screen with Bradley Cooper in Paradise Lost. Belle recently co-starred in the hit From Prada to Nada and her work schedule isn’t slowing down. She’s got five other films in the works, starring with Breakaway alongside Rob Lowe, Open Road with Andy Garcia, Mary Mother of Christ with Al Pacino, and Bangkok Love Story. This young starlet has come a long way since her small role in Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park 2.

Paradise Lost premise: An action-heavy take on the epic poem centered on the war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer.

Diego Boneta started his career in Mexico singing and acting. He’s worked extensively in television with successful Spanish speaking soap operas. He recently conquered the hearts of many young girls with his recurring role in the TV series 90210 but his film career is barely underway and the support has been quite extraordinary. His big Hollywood break came earlier this year when he landed the lead role in Adam Shankman's movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages. He’ll get to co-star alongside big names like Tom Cruise, Paul Giamatti and Alec Baldwin. Just a few days ago Variety reported that Boneta and Belle were being targeted to play Adam and Eve in the epic action 3D battle Paradise Lost.

Rock of Ages premise: Young Drew Boley (Diego Boneta) and Sherrie Christian (Julianne Hough) fall in love during the rock music scene of 1987.

A few years ago we saw Dania Ramirez kicking butt in X-Men: The Last Stand but it was her recurring role in the HBO series Entourage that crowned her as one the hottest Latinas in Hollywood. Unafraid of playing tough roles or bike riding the mean streets of NYC, the Dominican actress just finished shooting David Koepp’s Premium Rush with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She’ll also be co-starring in American Reunion.

Premium Rush premise: New York City bike messenger (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) picks up a dubious package and becomes the target of a crooked cop (Michael Shannon) in the action thriller Premium Rush.
