Cine Latino: Juicy Details on Jennifer Lopez's Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chilean Movie and Sex-Tape Battle

Jun 19, 2013

Cine Latino covers, well, all things relating to Latino culture and the movies, every Wednesday.

Boricua actress, entrepreneur, singer and philanthropist Jennifer Lopez will receive her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, June 20. According to the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Lopez will be honored with star No. 2,500, which will be marked with a special emblem. For fans looking to watch J.Lo's Walk of Fame ceremony it will be streamed live online at 11:30 a.m. PST via Hollywood Walk of Fame's official website.

Antonio Banderas, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Andy Garcia and Edward James Olmos have also been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Which Latino celebrity do you think should receive a star next? Eva Longoria? Salma Hayek? Robert Rodriguez? Sound off below.

Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Lopez is set to join Antonio Banderas in Patricia Riggen's Chilean miner drama The 33. The film is based on the real life events of 33 miners that were trapped in a mine shaft for over two months. Production begins this fall in Chile. Also joining the cast is Lopez's What to Expect When You're Expecting costar Rodrigo Santoro and Martin Sheen. It's unclear what Lopez's role will be in the film. I'm guessing she might play someone's wife or reporter? What do you think?

OK, now for the juicy part. Remember Ojani Noa? He takes the honors for being Lopez's first husband. The two married in 1997 and divorced a year after. So get this, for some reason, Lopez and Noa videotaped their honeymoon escapades and apparently some spicy images were captured.

According to Fox News Latino the footage shows Lopez consenting to being videotaped, followed by some spanking and booty shots. Yikes! Lopez responded to the news by slamming Noa with a lawsuit back in 2009 and the drama continues to this day. As it turns out, Noa is not the sole proprietor of the intimate honeymoon footage. Noa's business partner Ed Meyer and girlfriend Claudia Vazquez, who is also coproducing a film about Noa and Lopez's marriage, both own rights to the footage. Reports came in today that the matter had been finally settled but according to Meyer, both parties have not reached an agreement.

"Ojani Noa and I have not accepted a settlement," Meyer told E! News. "What Jennifer Lopez's attorneys are offering is ridiculous. We are asking for $3.75 million."

A hearing is scheduled to discuss possible settlement terms on September 10. May the odds be forever in J.Lo's favor.

Despite the court hiccup, Lopez has plenty to look forward to this year. She recently teamed up with Verizon Wireless to create a chain of cell phone stores that cater to the Latino community. The first store, Viva Movil, opened in Brooklyn, New York last week. According to the New York Daily News, the wireless stores will be designed by Lopez, equipped with a bilingual staff and play area for children.

And last but not least, Lopez is the new chief creative officer of NUVOtv. She'll be making key decisions on the network's programming lineup, marketing and branding. Lopez will also star in her own 90-minute biographical special Legacy: Jennifer Lopez, which was produced by her production company Nuyorican Productions.

"I had a lot of ideas about the network and what it should be," said Lopez during a cable industry conference. "It represents something bigger than television. It represents a community.”

NUVOtv debuted its new programming lineup on Tuesday, June 18. Happy TV watching!
