What do Naomi Watts, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Goodman, and Peter Dinklage have in common? All of them have been cast in exciting new projects. Read on for the full details.
-- Actress Naomi Watts has landed the coveted role of Princess Diana in Oliver Hierscbiegel’s big screen biopic, Caught in Flight.
The film, which is currently being shopped at the European Film Market, is being billed as a “compelling portrait of Diana, Princess of Wales during the last two years of her life, the script charts her search for personal happiness as she turned into a major international campaigner and humanitarian.”
Watts is excited to get the part, telling reporters it’s “an honour to be able to play this iconic role - Princess Diana was loved across the world, and I look forward to rising to the challenge of playing her on screen."

-- Mary Elizabeth Winstead has landed a new gig today, returning to her horror film roots in the upcoming chiller The Darkness.
The movie, which is set to be helmed by The Last Exorcist filmmaker Daniel Stamm, is based loosely on Henry James classic ghost story, The Turn of the Screw. The plot breakdown reveals Winstead will play “a young American student working for a charismatic tutor in an English manor house who becomes convinced that she and the children she is warding are being haunted.” Not the most imaginative premise ever, but we do like Stamm and Winstead. -- John Goodman has been extremely busy for the past year – he’s appeared in two films up for Best Picture (The Artist, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close) and he’s got multiple projects scheduled for release this year. The actor isn’t slowing down, though – and now he can add another title to his already impressive resume.
Goodman is set to join the cast of the baseball drama Trouble with the Curve, which finds the actor co-starring alongside Clint Eastwood. Both actors play baseball scouts – Eastwood’s is ready to call it a career because his eyesight is failing, while Goodman doesn’t really believe Eastwood’s character is ready to pack it in.

-- Finally, Peter Dinklage and Evan Rachel Wood have been tapped to star in A Case of You.
Written by actor Justin Long (who will also star), A Case of You finds Long’s character embellishing his online dating profile to impress the ladies. He then discovers that keeping up the charade is a real chore when one woman falls in love with him.
Sources aren’t saying who Wood or Dinklage will play, but in Wood’s case, it’s not a stretch to think of her as Long’s love interest. As far as Dinklage is concerned, does it even matter? The guy’s awesome in everything he does. Just give him screentime and this movie automatically gets about ten times better than the hoary premise indicates.
Whether Dinklage’s involvement will be enough to push A Case of You into watchable territory remains to be seen, but we’ll keep you posted. [via Variety]
