Not long ago, we shared casting news speculating that Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender were set to reunite on The Counselor – a hot script in Hollywood written by No Country for Old Men scribe Cormac McCarthy. Turns out those rumors were indeed true.
Deadline says the actor, who worked with Scott on his upcoming film Prometheus, is set to play the lead role – that of a lawyer who thinks he can make some extra cash if he works on the periphery of the drug trade. Naturally, that doesn’t work out. Sources say several other high profile stars are clamoring for parts. No word on who that is yet, but we should know more in the very near future as The Counselor is set to start filming on May 1st. Guess that means we can all stop writing stories speculating on what Ridley Scott’s next project might be…
Lamb of God, writer Diablo Cody’s directorial debut, has added another cast member. Deadline reports that Parks and Recreation actor Nick Offerman has now joined Russell Brand, Octavia Spencer, Holly Hunter, and Julianne Hough in the film. Lamb tells the story of a young religious woman who denounces God after surviving a plane crash with crippling injuries. She then heads to Vegas (where else?) to rediscover herself.
Katherine Bigelow’s Osama Bin Laden film has added two more actors to its roster – and one of them might surprise you.
The latest additions to the untitled project (formerly titled Kill Bin Laden), are Contagion actress Jennifer Ehle and Nash Edgerton. Edgerton will join his brother Joel in the film, a bit of a departure for Nash given his history of working as stuntman (he was Ewan McGregor’s stunt double in the final two Star Wars prequels) and directing.
According to CinemaBlend, Edgerton will play a SEAL. No word on who Ehle is playing at this point. The film, which also features Jessica Chastain, Edgar Ramirez, Jason Clarke, Mark Strong, Kyle Chandler and Chris Pratt, follows SEAL Team 6 as they hunt down Al Quaeda terrorist Osama Bin Laden. Shooting will commence soon, with the film scheduled for a December 19th release.
Josh Duhamel might not be returning for Transformers 4, but he’s got some other work lined up – so don’t worry about him. CinemaBlend says Duhamel and Dan Fogler have landed the leading roles in Kevin and Michael Goetz’s survival film Scenic Route.
Duhamel and Fogler play a pair of friends on a road trip – but things fall apart when their car breaks down in the desert. As hopes for rescue dwindle, the two men turn on each other in a tense fight for survival. Will they survive the ordeal? We’ll have to wait and find out (but since this is Hollywood, we’re willing to bet at least one of them makes it out alive.)
