What a crazy week for casting. If the mega-updates of the past few days haven’t satiated your need to know what stars are landing parts in new films, here’s another heaping helping to ease you into your weekend.
-- First up, John Cusack and American Horror Story’s Evan Peters have officially joined Emma Roberts in the comedy Adult World.
Roberts will play a 21-year-old college grad who’s convinced she’s going to be America’s next great poet. She moves back home so she can focus on crafting the perfect sonnet – only to amass a pile of rejection slips and default notices on her student loans. Her parents force her to take a job, and the only one she can find is at an adult bookstore called Adult World.
Cusack is set to play Roberts’ mentor – a wildly popular poet from the 1990s. No word yet on Peters’ character, but it’s not a stretch to imagine he’ll wind up as Roberts’ romantic interest.

-- Henry Cavill is about to finish his work on the latest Superman reboot, Man of Steel, but he won’t have a lot of time to kick back and relax when that film’s completed – he’s already lined up his next gig.
The actor is set to ditch his blue tights and job at the Daily Planet for China, where he’ll headline Legendary East’s The Great Wall. The film looks at the mystery behind how The Great Wall of China was constructed and will be directed by Ed Zwick. We have no idea how Cavill fits into that story, but we’ll take a wait-and-see approach for now. [via /Film]
-- Buddy comedy Lucky Dog has landed its two lead actors – a pair of Pauls.
Paul Giamatti and Paul Rudd will headline June Bug director Phil Morrison’s laugher about a pair of French-Canadian con men who run a Christmas tree scam even though their friendship is on the rocks. Sally Hawkins has been cast in the film, but no word on who she’ll be playing.
All in all, we like this casting. Rudd is a bit hit-or-miss with us, but Giamatti is gold – and we fully expect Paul the Elder to carry the weight of this project on his back if need be.
Lucky Dog is set to begin shooting next month – we’ll bring you more details as it winds its way through the production cycle. [via FilmSchoolRejects]
