Batman’s infamous “Rogue’s Gallery” might be the greatest assemblage of bad guys in entertainment history, but James Bond has had his share of unforgettable villains too. Now, the producers of Bond 24 are looking to add another menacing figure to the menagerie.
James Bond Radio reports that a source at the casting agency for the upcoming film has slipped it some major details about the newest enemy Daniel Craig will be facing. According to the agency, they’re looking to “follow in the tradition of Jaws and Oddjob in finding an iconic baddy.”
We’re already excited about this news, but there’s more!
The casting agency has also revealed that the character will be named Hinx, and that he will be between the ages of 30 and 45. Here’s the rest of the description:
“Ideally over 6′ 2″. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background.”
Reading that description, it feels like a pro wrestler could be ideal for the part. Dave Bautista has proven he can act after appearing in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy, but is he very unusual? Cinema Blend muses that maybe a basketball player like Greg Oden might be a possibility. That kind of thinking worked out okay for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s casting in Bruce Lee’s Game of Death. I don’t follow MMA all that closely, but I’m guessing there has to be someone who fits this mold in that sport.
Whatever happens, this new actor is going to have some big shoes to fill. Jaws and Oddjob are classic Bond characters that even casual fans of the franchise know and love. Plus, topping Javier Bardem’s villainous role in Skyfall will be no small feat. Who could you see squaring off against Bond in the new film? Share your picks with us below.
