The original Die Hard remains one of our favorite action films of all time. The sequels, on the other hand, have been something of a mixed bag. We love the continuing adventures of John McClane (particularly when he teamed up with Samuel L. Jackson in Die Hard with a Vengeance), and we’re cautiously optimistic about the upcoming A Good Day to Die Hard. After this one, though, perhaps it’s time for John McClane to finally ride off into the sunset and open a sports bar or something.
EW’s Inside Movies has scored an exclusive new photo from the shoot – a pic of star Bruce Willis and his costar Jai Courtney. In typical Die Hard fashion, it’s got the actors carrying guns as they look to be getting ready to do something crazy and action-y.
The latest outing finds Willis teaming up with his son for an adventure set in Russia. Plot details are being closely guarded, but we know the two have a tense relationship (John McClane seems to have that kind of relationship with all of his relatives…). Courtney tells EW that the elder McClane likes to wing it, while his character is more strategic.
The actor also adds “I can’t say much about the villains without giving it away.” That’s intriguing – and has led to speculation that we might see the return of another Gruber. That criminal family provided villains for the first and third film. If that’s the case, we’re really hoping the big reveal is that Hans Gruber had a twin brother. We don’t care how hokey that is – it would be worth it to see Willis and Alan Rickman square off again.
Kidding aside, we’ll have to wait until Valentine’s Day to find out just who the McClanes are squaring off against this time around. In the meantime, let us know what you expect from this newest Die Hard.
