Baltimore Sports Talk station WNST AM 1570 recently took a break from baseball and the NHL playoffs to chat with Steve Lemme and Kevin Heffernan – members of the Broken Lizard comedy troupe. The two guys talked about outrageous stunts, crab cakes, and doing love scenes with Marcus Allen’s girlfriend (while Allen, star running back for the Raiders in the ‘80s, was on set) during their segment, but they also dropped some bombshells for fans interested in Super Troopers 2 and Weedfest.
Lemme and Heffernan end their interview by revealing that both films are currently in development. Weedfest, a teased sequel to Beerfest, actually began mostly as a joke – but the duo points out that fans and famous potheads like Willie Nelson and Snoop Dog (or Lion) were all too eager to get involved. As such, the film has been set up at an undisclosed studio and the team is currently working on a script. It’s too soon to fire up your bongs, but at least we’ve got confirmation that this project is actually alive.
Things are apparently much further along with Super Troopers 2 – the sequel to cult classic 2002 comedy about warring cop factions. Lemme and Heffernan reveal that the script for the second installment is complete and that they hope to begin filming this summer with an eye toward a 2014 release date.
