Excellent shows like True Detective (love, love, love) have helped fill the Breaking Bad-shaped hole in our hearts, but Bryan Cranston’s Walter White and Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman are truly missed. Breaking Bad ended last year, but memories of the series about a high school chemistry teacher turned deadly meth kingpin still get our adrenaline pumping. While we wait for the Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould spin-off Better Call Saul to debut this November, let’s dig into this mash-up of Breaking Bad and another story about the seduction of greed and power: The Wolf of Wall Street.
Set to the movie trailer’s theme song "Black Skinhead" by Kanye West, The Wolf of Albuquerque hits all our sweet spots. It’s a two-minute montage of some of Breaking Bad’s best moments, including the great magnet shakedown. The trailer borrows no more from Scorsese’s film than the song and title sequence, but it feels tailor-made for Gilligan’s beloved work. We think Scorsese would approve.
