One of the lingering questions since the announcement of The Bourne Legacy has been just how much will it have to do with the Matt Damon-starring trilogy about a government-created assassin with an unfortunate case of memory loss? Well, now we have some answers.
The first teaser trailer made it clear that this simply isn't new star Jeremy Renner taking over the same role, rather he's yet another component of the same program. This new trailer for the Tony Gilroy-directed film makes things even clearer: Renner's character isn't just another Jason Bourne, he's actually one of the super thugs designed to kill Jason Bourne, and the opening of his film will tie directly into one of the pivotal events seen in Damon's final film, The Bourne Ultimatum.
Of course, Renner's Aaron Cross just doesn't have it in him to be a government pawn, and so, not unlike Jason Bourne, he breaks from the out-of-control program and in the process takes with him one of the team's scientists, played by Rachel Weisz.
