Sad news for movie fans today – actor Bob Hoskins is officially retiring from acting.
The actor’s agent released an official statement earlier today. Here it is in its entirety:
“Bob Hoskins wishes to announce that he will be retiring from acting, following his diagnosis of Parkinson's disease last autumn. He wishes to thank all the great and brilliant people he has worked with over the years, and all of his fans who have supported him during a wonderful career. Bob is now looking forward to his retirement with his family, and would greatly appreciate that his privacy be respected at this time."
The actor had a rich and storied career, appearing in movies like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Mona Lisa and the recently released Snow White and the Huntsman. Personally, I always loved him in Unleashed – where he kept Jet Li chained up like a vicious attack dog. Not his finest piece of work, but he’s a lot of fun as a gangster in that film.
We wish Mr. Hoskins the best as he settles into retirement and celebrates his wonderful career. Thanks for the memories – and sharing your talent with us.
