Doctor Strange

When Rachel McAdams confirmed that she would be joining Marvel's Doctor Strange last year, she did not mention what character she would be playing. Since then, we've seen glimpses of her in the trailers as some kind of medical practitioner named Christine Palmer, a former workmate of Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch).

Christina Palmer was also the name of a nurse who appeared in the short-lived 1970s Marvel comic book series Night Nurse, which followed three roommates who were also nurses on the night shift at a Manhattan hospital. The nurses were not superheroes but got involved in dramatic, sometimes dangerous situations. One of them, Linda Carter, started helping superheroes as Night Nurse and later became involved with Doctor Strange in a comic book series published about 10 years ago.

Doctor Strange

Some have wondered if Christine Palmer would become the new Night Nurse in the upcoming Doctor Strange. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, however, says: "I will say that that story line does not play into the movie." As to the future, he says: "It’s just as much fun for us as it is for the fans to speculate about that."

Doctor Strange will open in theaters on November 4.

Transformers

We've heard quite a bit about Transformers: The Last Knight already and heard more during a recent Facebook Live chat that director Michael Bay shared with fans. Among the details is that John Turturro and John Goodman are returning to the series, as reported by Slash Film, which is the first that we've heard about the news.

Turturro played the mostly comic character Seymour Simmons, who began as an agent in the government group Sector 7 in Transformers, worked in his mother's deli in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and became a published author in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Goodman voiced an Autobot commando named Hound in Transformers: Age of Extinction (above right) and is expected to return in that role.

Transformers: The Last Knight will arrive in theaters on June 23, 2017.
