He’s super bad. He’s outta sight. He’s…Black Dynamite! It's been too long since we've seen a good spoof of the blaxploitation movies of the 1970s, and this one nails it. In Black Dynamite, Michael Jai White stars as an ex-CIA agent out to avenge the death of his brother against kung fu masters, drug-dealing pimps and The Man. This ladies man with a plan might not have Pam Grier or the late Rudy Ray Moore on his side, but he’s still a smooth soul brother backed up by some bad cats played by Tommy Davidson, Salli Richardson-Whitfield and Arsenio Hall.
Sony will put Black on Blu and DVD on February 16 with a bunch of foxy extras, including filmmaker and cast commentary, deleted and alternate scenes, “Lighting the Fuse” featurette and “The Comic-Con Experience.” Exclusive to the Blu-ray is “The ‘70s: Back in Action” featurette highlighting comedians from the film as well as the BD-Live movieIQ feature that will allow you to go online and figure out what Arsenio Hall has been doing between his show in the 1980s and this parody flick, as well as the other actors.
