While we kill time waiting for more official Star Wars news to be sent down from the new Lucasfilm gods, TMZ is doing all they can to track down those who starred in the original Star Wars trilogy in order to ask them whether they'd be willing to return to those characters for Episode VII. We already know Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are somewhat interested in returning, but what about some of those other characters who survived Return of the Jedi? What about Lando Calrissian? Could Billy Dee Williams be convinced to return along with everyone else?
While TMZ wasn't able to get the man on camera, they report that according to Williams, he hasn't been approached yet regarding the new movie. When asked whether he'd do it, the actor replied -- drum roll please -- "I suppose so." Meaning ... "I might have a doctor's appointment and then I'm meeting friends at TGI Friday's, but I suppose I can fit in a cameo if they really need me for something."
Take that for what it's worth, fans. In all seriousness, though, don't expect Disney to bring back every Tom, Dick and Lando from the original series. This new movie will most likely be filled with new blood who can carry on the franchise, which means our nerdy cameos will be limited. After all, as cool as Billy Dee was (and probably still is), he ain't selling action figures at 75 years old.
