Bid on This: Dinner With George Lucas, John Lasseter, Francis Ford Coppola, Chris Columbus, and Philip Kaufman
Sep 22, 2011
The Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) created the charitable organization Stand Up to Cancer in order to raise funds for groundbreaking cancer research that will hopefully be able to save the lives of the thousands of people dying each day. They're teaming up with Lucasfilm in celebration of the Star Wars Blu-ray release this month, asking fans to help fight cancer by using the force and bidding on rare Star Wars items and other goodies. One of those prizes includes dinner for two with filmmakers George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather), John Lasseter (of Pixar and Toy Story fame), Chris Columbus (Home Alone and Harry Potter), and Phillip Kaufman (Indiana Jones writer and Invasion of the Body Snatchers director).
Stand Up To Cancer will receive 100% of the proceeds from this auction, and you get to enjoy 2 hours in the San Francisco Bay Area on New Year's Eve 2012 with some of Hollywood's biggest names. So far there are 45 bids, and the grand total has reached $8,550.00, so your meal isn't cheap. The rules for this auction make it clear that this isn't an opportunity for you to pitch a script, or generally act like a smarmy jerkface. Security will be in attendance, you may be "reasonably" searched, background checks will be run, and you'll have to sign a liability form. If you're deemed to be a creep, you'll be handed a Lucasfilm and Pixar gift bag instead, so be on your best behavior.
Place your bids over here. You have 1 day and several hours left to win.
