Cosplayers often get a bad rap (the only guys in geekdom who get it worse are LARPers and *shudder* Furries) and sometimes it’s justified. We’ve seen more than our fair share of bad cosplay at Comic-Con and other conventions over the years. That doesn’t mean we should dismiss all cosplay, though – because occasionally someone does something pretty amazing. Take this Toothless costume, for instance.
YouTube user Monoyasha uploaded this video of an extremely detailed costume designed around Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. The results are stunning – we can’t even guess how long it took to pull this off, but the level of detail is excellent and even the movements seem accurate to the film. Somehow, there’s only one person inside making it all work too.
We’d guess it gets pretty hot inside that getup, but when your handiwork looks this great, it’s worth a little suffering to show it off to the world. We do wonder what people driving past thought, though. Had we seen this giant black dragon lumbering around in a field, we’d have undoubtedly freaked out thinking the monster apocalypse was upon us and welcomed our new dragon overlords. That would have been pretty embarrassing.
