A lot of people aren’t familiar with Alan Turing – a man who was hugely instrumental in turning the tide of World War II in favor of the Allies – but that will change with the arrival of The Imitation Game this November. Here’s the first clip for the feature.
Benedict Cumberbatch plays Turing in the new film – a man responsible for breaking the Nazi’s Enigma Code. That code, once thought uncrackable, was how the Germans communicated and when Turing and his fellow team members solved the riddle of it, the Allies knew everything the Germans were up to.
You would think this would have made Turing a national hero, but the mathematician was shunned for his sexuality and his later life was anything but pleasant.
The Imitation Game appears set to chronicle all of this – and just in time for consideration for major awards. The film boasts an all-star cast, which not only includes Cumberbatch in a leading role, but supporting performances from Charles Dance, Keira Knightley and Rory Kinnear.
The film is slated to open on November 14 in the UK, then make its American debut a week later on November 21. Have a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.
