If you love the magic of making movies as much as we do, then you’re going to enjoy the two videos we're about to share with you.
In the first, we go behind the scenes of Star Trek Into Darkness to see how J.J. Abrams and his team filmed the exhilarating ship-to-ship space-jump sequence in the film. As is to be expected, there was a whole lot of CG and green-screen effects utilized to make the mad dash between Kirk and Khan a reality, but Abrams also utilizes practical FX work to make it all come together. It’s more proof of how the two artforms work well in unison to create some really amazing sequences.
Hopefully this is a hint of what Abrams plans to bring to the table with the release of Star Wars: Episode VII in the future. If so, that franchise appears to be in very capable hands. [via io9]

After all that action, we switch gears for a more sedate chat between superhero filmmakers Christopher Nolan and Richard Donner as the dynamic duo discuss the importance of editing and cinematic scores.
The brief clip comes courtesy of The Dark Knight Trilogy Blu-ray set, which made its official debut last week. I’m gonna be honest – there’s not a ton of meat to this clip, but seeing Nolan and Donner hanging out chatting is awesome all by itself. I especially like the way Nolan looks a bit starstruck hanging out with the Superman director.
