While there's still a chance we'll get to see a live-action adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One at some point down the road, for starters DC and Warner Premiere have teamed up on bringing the story to life via an animated film that will premiere at this year's San Diego Comic-Con before arriving on Blu-ray, DVD and OnDemand this October 18th.

MTV has premiered the first trailer for the film, which will track Batman's beginnings as a man haunted by his parents' death who trains to become a fighting machine and, eventually, an outlaw in Gotham City. Some cool, geeky casting here, too, with Benjamin McKenzie (Bruce Wayne), Bryan Cranston (Jim Gordon), Eliza Dushku (Catwoman) and Katee Sackhoff (Sarah Essen) all starring in what looks to be a fairly dark piece (hence the PG-13 rating), which certainly falls in line with the tone of the book. The film will also feature a Catwoman short.

Check it out below and let us know what you think. Would you be interested in seeing this become a live-action adaptation eventually, or are you sick of Batman origin stories by now?
