Australian Horror Import 'Bait 3D' Follows in 'The Loved Ones' Steps to US Theaters

Jul 09, 2012

"When a monstrous freak tsunami hits a sleepy beach community, a group of survivors from different walks of life find themselves trapped inside a submerged grocery store. As they try to escape to safety, they soon discover that there is a predator among them more deadly than the threat of drowning—vicious great white sharks lurking in the water, starved hungry for fresh meat."

Oh, Bait 3D. You had us at "monstrous freak tsunami." Adding great white sharks into the equation is just downright decadent for B-movie lovers like us. And if you're like us, hopefully that means there are enough like-minded horror hounds around to put together Tugg screenings (starting September 9th) for this Australian import.

Anchor Bay are following in the steps of The Loved Ones and are using the screenings-on-demand platform to get the Russell Mulcahy (Razorback) produced creature feature into US theaters. That means if you want to see sharks swimming around a grocery store and chomping on hot co-eds like Phoebe Tonkin (The Secret Circle), Sharni Vinson (You're Next), Alex Russell (Chronicle) and Xavier Samuel (The Loved Ones), you're going to have to either find a pre-existing Tugg screening near you, or create one of your own. You can do either at this handy link right here.

And if that plot synopsis didn't already entice you, perhaps this new trailer for the film will. It's a Red Band trailer, so keep that in mind if you're pressing play at work, but as far as Red Band's go, it's still fairly tame. Hopefully the actual movie isn't, because we'd love to see Bait 3D make full use of its R rating.
