Kick-Ass

The Avengers 2: Bryan Singer has already cast Evan Peters from Kick-Ass as the speedy superhero known as Quicksilver in next year's X-Men: Days of Future Past, but Joss Whedon plans to use the character as well in The Avengers 2, due in 2015. Now comes a rumor that Marvel is "courting" another actor from Kick-Ass to play Quicksilver for Whedon, and it's none other than Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Scheduling issues, however, are already an issue. [Deadline]

Elysium: We're counting down the days until director Neill Blomkamp (the exciting and thoughtful District 9) unveils his next science fiction project. Elysium is due out on August 9, and a new photo features the moment before a showdown between a kneeling Matt Damon and a masked Sharlto Copley. Jodie Foster also stars. [Collider]

Frozen Ground Trailer: Nicolas Cage stars as a police detective in Alaska who must track down suspected serial killer John Cusack in Frozen Ground. In the movie, based on a true story, Cage teams up with one of the killer's intended victims, Vanessa Hudgens. The first official trailer is tense and effective; the thriller is heading to theaters on August 23. [First Showing]

Blue Jasmine Trailer: Woody Allen takes to the streets of San Francisco for his next movie, Blue Jasmine. Cate Blanchett stars as a wealthy woman who loses her fortune and comes to live with her sister, Sally Hawkins. Alec Baldwin plays a swindling ex-husband, with Bobby Canavale and Andrew Dice Clay as very blue-collar characters. The movie looks sharp, funny and on point; it's due out on July 26. [Empire]
