Evil Dead Main

If there are animated dead things around, particularly ones that are evil and dead, you’ll want to have Bruce “Ash” Campbell on hand. Sam Raimi’s cult-favorite Evil Dead trilogy has been released and re-released on DVD more times than you’ve heard Michael Jackson songs played lately. The only chapter currently on Blu-ray is Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn. Blu-ray Bob would love to see the first Evil Dead on BD, but since the movie was originally shot on 16mm, it might look scary for all the wrong reasons. Instead, he got his hopes up for the final sequel, Army of Darkness, which was announced with a May release date but quietly never arrived. Now Universal has re-announced the Army of Darkness: Screwhead Edition for September 15 along with an umpteenth-dip DVD. Blu-ray specs remain the same: 1080p picture and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack. Extras include “Creating the Deadites,” the alternate ending, theatrical trailer, and BD-Live capability for downloading extras. If the DVD release pattern is any indication, the evil dead will rise again and again on Blu-ray as well.
