Thor: The Dark World

The fifth installment in an incredibly popular series, Transformers: The Last Knight began production earlier this month. We knew late last year that Mark Wahlberg would be reprising his role as mechanic Cade Yeager in Transformers: Age of Extinction and director Michael Bay confirmed he was returning about a month later. Casting news has been rolling out since then.

The latest addition to the cast is Anthony Hopkins, who won an Academy Award for The Silence of the Lambs. The announcement was made via social media.

Hopkins is no stranger to blockbusters, having previously appeard in Thor and Thor: The Dark World (top), among others. He's also set to appear in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok.

No details about Hopkins' role were revealed. Indeed, no official hints about the plot have been dropped yet, though we know that Josh Duhamel will be returning as William Lennox, a military character, and young Isabela Moner and comic actor Jerrod Carmichael have also been tapped for key roles.

Of course, any Transformers movie is also dependent on the titular alien robots. Via social media, director Bay officially unveiled a new look at Bumbleblee.

The new Bumblebee is a 2016 Camaro, custom built for the new movie. That's not surprising, since the character's appearance has changed throughout the Transformers series, updating and becoming more fearsome for the times. Here he is, for example, in the original Transformers movie in 2007.

Compare that with his transformed appearance seven years later in Transformers: Age of Extinction.

It should be interesting to see how Bumblebee is utilized in the next installment, especially with a fresh new body. Transformers: The Last Knight will open in theaters on June 23, 2017.
