See the Posters for the 'Animaniacs' Movies That Never Were

Feb 08, 2013

If you were a child of the '90s odds are you grew up with a number of TV shows produced by Steven Spielberg, but none were quite as fun and unique as Animaniacs. It was a kids cartoon with a particularly irreverent, but educational, brand of humor that was often packed with jokes about Hollywood history and classic films. But did you know that Animaniacs almost became a film itself?

Tom Ruegger, who produced the show along with several other Spielberg ventures (Tiny Toon Adventures, Pinky and the Brain and Freakazoid!), has a blog dedicated to his time in the animation industry and it's packed with behind-the-scenes photos, artwork and trivia that'll fascinate fans of '90s animation. Over the years he's posted a number of artist sketches for posters for Animaniacs movies that Warner Bros. never greenlit (Wakko's Wish, a play on the It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World formula, did make it through the pipeline, but it went straight to VHS).

Some of them have actual pitches that accompany them (read those here), some are just the poster, but they're all a cool look at what never was.
